What is Tithes and Offering?

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. 1Chronicle 16:34

I just wanna share my exaltation message of tithes and offering during our recently Praise and Worship service. Hoping that you may find meaningful this a simple point of view of mind.

What is Tithes and Offering? Is one of the effective way to give thanks to the Lord for all the blessings that we have been received. Because in everyday that God's letting us live, we received a lot of blessings from him and on that such reason we do not have excuses not to thank him (we should thank him because we're still breathing, we have food to eat, we have a good clothes, we have a money to spend, we have good health and etc..)

In old testament, God challenge us in Malachi. 3:10

"Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, And thereby put me to the test, say the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need."

So we should return the blessings that we receive from him by giving Tithes and offering and by transaction he challenge us to return a 10% of our monthly salary income because in return God made a promise to open the windows of heaven and pour down a countless blessings.

But when Jesus Christ came, in New Testament, he command us to give tithes in 2 Corinthian 9:7

"Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God love a cheerful giver"

Jesus Christ commanded us in more easiest way where we can give according to our conviction and discernment.

Take note that aside of offering by financially there is still alternate ways to pleased God and this by just remembering triple T - Time, Talent and Treasure.

Time - God pleased when we give time to him by keep Praying, attending Praise and Worship service, Prayer meeting, Bible Study, Cell Group and other activities that belongs to God.

Talent - by sharing your talent to help your church is also pleasing to God, not just you are good in Singing or Music but also in other aspect of how you will become a blessing to everyone.

Treasure - basically by sharing offering material things but also treasuring the time that God is always presence in our life.

One of the example that I used to find a reason to tithes is:

There is two kinds of spirit residing in our body and by time to time they are fighting, this two spirits are a Godly Spirit from God and a Sinner spirit from evil. When we are doing good things Godly spirit is winning or triumph, and God is always pleased but if we do bad things Evil spirit will win.

Remember giving is part of our responsibility to God by returning back a certain amount of blessings that we have and if we do so, God will never be last so he will answer back too in double blessing to us, and then of course we will do give back again, and by this giving that will be become our ministry, so the cycle of giving will never be stop and if this our ministry I am very sure that we are very very blessed of our God through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

So the challenge is, who will you gonna let win? the Godly spirit or the Sinner spirit, it still by your choice.
